Podcast highlights:

  • As of this post, in the United States, Thanksgiving has come and gone, so the holiday season is officially here.
  • While I realize that not everyone celebrates Christmas, for many, this is also a season of giving to others.
  • Giving should not be seasonal, in fact, it is biblical for us to look after the needs of others.

Scripture references

Philippians 2:1-4

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

James 2:26

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Matthew 5:16

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Mark 2:1-12*

And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

Galatians 6:9

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

BCUFam, if one person looked after the needs of one other person, many issues in this world would be eradicated. Because we live in this world the enemy is prince (for now, anyway—-see John 12:31), the spirit of selfishness, gain and greed are with us. Think about it——-the wars, poverty, inflated prices, hatred, envy—–these maladies adversely effect others and develop from a lustful, prideful, spirit which does NOT come from God (I John 2:16). Since we know this spirit will be with us until Jesus comes back, as people who love Him and live by biblical principals, with His help, let us continue to give and take care of others as God leads us. We may not be able to help everyone, but all of us can assist someone else. Amen? Amen! Let’s pray!

Father, in the name of Jesus, as we come before You, as always, we give Your name praise, glory and honor for who You are, for what You do, and for Your Word you give us day after day, to let us know exactly what we are supposed to do. We thank You for this particular podcast—-reminding us that we are helpers one to another, and that we are lights that are to shine in this dark world, so we may glorify You in Heaven.

Please help us to remember to acknowledge You in all our ways, so you can direct us as to how we can be of assistance to someone else. Bless us to remember that tending to the needs of others is not just monetary, but acts of service, giving of time, talents, gifts, out of our abundance, praying, listening, advising, encouraging, teaching, or even just being present, as Job’s friends were at one point. We want to keep in mind that when we serve others, we serve You and You will reward us accordingly. Therefore, rather than do anything out of strife, vainglory or importunity, we want to do everything to Your glory, so that those who are saved will be encouraged, and those who are not will ask, “what must I do to be saved?” We thank You for every opportunity to be a blessing to someone today and always, in Jesus name we pray, Amen!

God’s Perfect Timing

Hey there BCU Fam!

Podcast highlights:

  • If you have been with me for any length of time, you are aware I LOVE to talk about time.
  • Time can be measured in two ways——-chronos or (clock) time or kairos time (God’s opportune moments).
  • Ideally, we are aware of and operate in both “time zones”.
  • Once again, God set up a kairos-timed opportunity that I would LOVE to share.

Scripture (KJV) references

Ecclesiastes 3:1&7

1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

Proverbs 27:17

17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Exodus 13:13-14

13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Romans 8:28

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

BCUFam, I marvel at God and how He does things! Years ago, He set up these relationships, that led to the connections, that led to a Scripture, that led to the confirmation, that led person who needed to hear from Him at a particular time! These are God’s opportune moments, aka the kairos time zone—-and it is a blessing to be a part of His work! We serve a MIGHTY God! Amen? Amen! Let’s pray!

Father, in the name of Jesus, we want to be found doing Your perfect will, thus we thank You for every opportunity You give us to be used by You in the kairos time zone. Please bless us Jesus to be aware and intentional to represent You well in every task and assignment You have for us! Lord, please bless all who are here today to hear Your voice in kairos time and move accordingly, in Jesus Name, we pray, Amen!

Leaf Lessons

Hey there BCU Fam!

For this post, because of the informal format, please tune into the podcast recording (click here or on the BCU avatar below) and refer to the written post for the highlights. We pray the post blesses and encourages you. If so, please thumbs up AND leave a comment! Thank you and enjoy the post!

Podcast highlights:

  • Depending on where you live in the United States, we are about halfway through the beautiful season of Autumn.
  • The brilliantly colored leaves falling to the ground is a timely reminder from Solomon: “to everything there is a season and a time and purpose under the heaven” (Ecclesiates 3:1).
  • God so beautifully demonstrates that Word in our lives, especially at this time of year.

KJV Scripture References:

Hebrews 12:1-2

1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Isaiah 43:19(a)

19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?

BCU Fam, God has made us in His own image and likeness, giving us the ability to think, reason and make our own decisions. Now, He has supplied us with the Word of God and His Holy Spirit (for those who have the Acts 2:38 experience) to guide us in the decision making process, but ultimately we do get to make choices, good or bad. It is ALWAYS wise to heed the voice of God in our decision-making——this way the outcome is 100% perfect.

Also, while we do not need a change of seasons to remind us to let go of things, we can use the leaves effortlessly falling from the trees as a reminder to trust that when God says drop it, He means it—–and for good reason. While new growth is dormant for a season, hold on for the new growth/spring coming in your life. Amen? Amen! Let’s pray!

Father, in the name of Jesus, we thank You for Your timely Word! Please help us to let go of the people, places, things and situations that are outside of Your perfect will. We thank You for sustaining and keeping us in the transitional and dormant seasons, and preparing us for the new things in store! In Jesus Name, we pray, Amen!

Podcast highlights:

  • I used to travel for a living, and thus, I learned to be organized and leave for the airport VERY EARLY!
  • On this latest trip, I prayed for an opportunity to be a witness to someone, and went on about my way.
  • Upon arriving at the airport, the TSA line was actually non-existent, so I did not have to rush to be screened.
  • God set up a kairos-timed opportunity for me to be blessed by an airport staff member.

Scripture (KJV) references

Matthew 7:14

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Proverbs 27:17

17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

I Thessalonians 4:16-17

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

BCUFam, I marvel at God and how He does things. God was in all the details, really starting from my mom being born, getting married, saved, having kids, living through some health challenges, and seeing her most recent birthday. Then He arranged the day I booked the trip, the airline to use, the arrival time at the airport—–all to meet this one woman, Joyce who BLESSED and encouraged ME! God is AWESOME! When we acknowledge the Lord in all our ways, He will truly direct our paths—-we just have to hear His voice and with His help, obey! Amen? Amen! Let’s pray!

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for teaching/reminding us to be good stewards with our chronos time, so we can SLOW DOWN and be more aware of what You would have us to do/receive in kairos time. Jesus please speak through us as we interact with people so that You are glorified, honored and praised, and that we will either be a blessing to someone, they will bless us, or both! Thank You, Jesus, for helping us to be good representatives of the light and salt You have called for us to be, and we will give You all the glory! In Jesus Name, we pray, Amen!

The Word That Replaces Worry

Hey there BCU Family!

For this post, because of the informal format, please tune into the podcast recording (click here or on the BCU avatar below) and refer to the written post for the highlights. We pray the post blesses and encourages you. If so, please thumbs up AND leave a comment! Thank you and enjoy the post!

Podcast highlights

  • Focusing on current events and the actions of others causes us to worry, get anxious, and to fret.
  • The word “fret” has several meanings including to be agitated, to be disturbed or to gnaw.
  • While we may initially be disturbed about our situation, consistent fretting has no place in the life of a believer.
  • The Word of God has “built-in” verses to ease the hearts of those who fret.

KJV Scripture references–Psalm 37

1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous.

18 The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.

22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.

25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

28 For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.

30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

34 Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

40 And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

BCU Fam, as a “recovering fretter”, I completely understand how it feels when you are waiting for God to move on your behalf for the healing, job, spouse, blessing, miracle, situation to clear up or whatever you are trusting God for. As we mature in Christ, it is imperative that we remember God really is in control and that His will, timing and gifts are always perfect. Trust me, (well, trust God) whatever He has for you will be so much better than you imagined, you’ll be so thankful that you waited and did things God’s way. Let’s pray about it!

Father in the name of Jesus, we thank You that rather than fretting needlessly, we can come to you with our anxious thoughts, worries, cares and concerns, and leave them with You. We will no longer be consumed with who is doing what, and seemingly getting by, rather, we will rest and wait patiently in You, Lord. We will rest knowing that our steps are ordered and that we are the righteous, so we will not be forsaken, and we are Your seed, so we will not be begging bread. We bless Your name because You preserve and deliver your saints because we trust in You. Thank You for Your continual care of us, Jesus, and we will continue to give Your name the praise and glory, in Jesus name we pray, Amen!
