Podcast highlights:

  • As of this post, we are in the beginning of December, and the holiday season is in full swing.
  • For many of us, this is a time to gather and celebrate with one another, especially family.
  • For others, this time of year is difficult as they grieve the loss of their loved ones.
  • Through a conversation, the Lord taught me a lesson on having compassion and understanding for those who are heavy-hearted right now.

Isaiah 50:4

The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

He said, “the holidays are not happy for everybody.” I really wanted to say something to make it better.

BCUFam, we are human, and the death of our loved ones HURTS! And it’s natural to miss their physical presence, especially at certain times of the year.

Now, it is hard to watch someone grieve––and it is also natural and CORRECT to want to comfort the person. God knows what you should say (if anything), and will lead you accordingly if you ask. Proverbs 25:11 says, “a word spoken fitly is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” When you think of what a stunning vision that is, how awesome would it be to speak that way? Ask God how. And know that sometimes, just a listening ear, a quiet shoulder, or just your silent presence can speak volumes. Amen? Amen!

Not just me, myself and I..

  • As of this post, in the United States, we just celebrated Thanksgiving and the holiday season is officially here.
  • While I realize that not everyone celebrates Christmas, for many, this is also a season of giving to others.
  • Giving should not be seasonal, in fact, it is biblical for us to look after the needs of others.

Matthew 7:1-5

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Galatians 6:9

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Jesus never encouraged only looking after ourselves. Selfishness is not a fruit of the Spirit.

BCUFam, if one person looked after the needs of one other person, many issues in this world would be eradicated. Because we live in this world the enemy is prince (for now, anyway—-see John 12:31), the spirit of selfishness, gain and greed are with us. Think about it——-the wars, poverty, inflated prices, hatred, envy—–these maladies adversely effect others and develop from a lustful, prideful, spirit which does NOT come from God (I John 2:16). Since we know this spirit will be with us until Jesus comes back, as people who love Him and live by biblical principals, with His help, let us continue to give and take care of others as God leads us. We may not be able to help everyone, but all of us can assist someone else.

And be reminded that tending to the needs of others is not just monetary, but acts of service, giving of your time, talents, gifts, out of your abundance, praying, listening, advising, encouraging, teaching or even just being present. Just ask acknowledge The Lord as to what to do (Proverbs 3:6), and He will direct your paths on what to do. 🙂 Amen? Amen!

The fear of man…

  • In time spent with the Lord, He often gives a Word for our current situation, wherein we rejoice (and rightly so)!
  • Other times, the Word He gives us stands out to us, but for no particular reason in that moment.
  • It is in those times, we want to tuck that Word in our hearts, because Jesus us prepping us for an upcoming test.

When we start to fear people over God, the people become our god.

BCUFam, the Lord is not interested in us being entrapped and staying in bondage to people because we are quiet, easy-going, non-confrontational, or just because we love the Lord. I am reminded of a person who questioned my Christianity when I did not do them a favor they felt very entitled to. Quite honestly, it wasn’t a conscious decision, The Lord just did not lead me to assist them and I told them something to that effect. My response initially caused some friction between us, but the thank the Lord, He worked things out between us.

In another situation, someone wanted to show me video clip that included vexing content. Before I could even think, my mouth firmly, but softly told the individual I was not interested in seeing what they were showing. Thankfully the person politely went on their way, and prayerfully will think twice before coming back to me with more foolishness. But if they do come back (the enemy comes back seasonally), with God’s Word and His help, I am prepared to pass the test! Amen? Amen!

“You are a light..”

  • Recently, BCU Live did a stewardship series about managing our time, with some focus on being in the karios (God’s perfect timing) time zone.
  • The day that post was released, I had an extremely hard time getting the podcast produced in a “timely” manner.
  • Because of the delay, I was a little anxious and concerned I would not have time to run an important errand.
  • The Lord had a word that was important for me to receive and the delay ensured that I got it.

While others are blessed and encouraged, ultimately, all that we do is for an audience of One.

BCUFam, as I type this through happy tears, I marvel at how God allowed a delay to test how I would react to the enemy’s false accusations. I admit I was a concerned about my “lateness”, but Jesus reminded me who I was really serving, so with His help I was able to calm down and take the time to finish up the podcast properly. And then He used that same delay to have me run into a beautiful young woman of God (God bless you, Cynthia) who carried out her assignment to remind me of who the Lord says I am.(Insert praise here)! Listen, when we run on karios time, the Lord will bless us every time! Amen? Amen!

When praying in public, we should focus on God versus how we sound to others.

BCUFam, please know that Jesus was not condemning public prayer at all. Rather, He was speaking about the heart and intention of praying in public–the religious leaders were praying to be seen and admired of men, instead of being seen and rewarded by God. When we pray in private, meaning our hearts are sincere and prostrate before God, He sees that and will reward you so all can see. You have His word on it!
