Scripture references (King James Version)

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:6).

Proverbs 3:27-28

27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well (James 2:8).

James 5:1-4

1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

Colossians 3:23-25

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Bonus Scripture:

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin (James 4:17).

BCUFam, I was one of the ones who used to desire/ask for hook-ups, especially when my daughter was little. The Lord brought a sign to my attention that said something like, “do you being your own eggs to the diner [for the chef to cook] and expect/ask for a discount because you brought them? Then do not ask for a discount here (the sign happened to be at a hairdresser’s shop, if memory serves me correctly). That pretty much stopped me from asking unless the Lord prompted me to.

The bottom line? Let’s not demand discounted or free goods or services. Rather, let’s pay as directed and be a blessing to others by paying them fairly and without complaint. God loves a cheerful giver. Amen? Amen!

So BCU Fam, what stood out to you? What are your thoughts on giving and getting discounts? Let’s talk about it in the comments section below!
