Hey there BCU Family!

Typically, you have the option of listening to our podcast, reading the notes or both. For this post, because of the interview format, please tune into the podcast recording and refer to the written post for the highlights. We pray the post blesses and encourages you. If so, please thumbs up AND leave a comment! Thank you and enjoy the post!

Podcast highlights:

  • The Youth Squad talks about feelings, being truthful, and doing the right thing.
  • The enemy, our old nature and our feelings can sometimes get us into trouble.
  • Following what God says is NOT always easy. But the peace and blessings that comes with obedience cannot be bought or sold ANYWHERE.

Scriptures to ponder

He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy (Proverbs 28:13).

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me (Psalm 51:5).

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38).

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him (James 1:5).

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ (Colossians 3:23-24).

So, BCU Youth Squad, what do you understand better about your feelings? How much better is it to go with the right thing to do versus what you “feel like”? What about doing things just to get noticed? Please head down to the comments section to share your thoughts with Jaz and the Xavier—-they will be delighted to hear from you!

Singles Chalkboard: Six things and the silly woman (part 2).

  • God has blessed all mankind, but especially women with attributes like knowledge, tenacity and virtue (See Proverbs 31:9-31).
  • Very often, women can be beguiled into saying and doing things that do not line up with the Word of God (See Genesis 3).
  • Because we serve a wise God, He wants women to walk in the wisdom, knowledge, instruction and understanding that He gives us.
  • So, we must understand not only what a silly woman is, but what to look out for, so we do not fall for the “okie-doke”.
  • We also want to be sure we are not walking in the ungodly attributes Paul lists in 2 Timothy 3.
  • Last time we were together, we explained the why of the post and we covered verses 1-2. This time, we will cover verse 3.

Scripture references

2 Timothy Chapter 3 (KJV)

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their’s also was.

So BCU Family, has this how has this series been for you so far? Been a blessing? Or a little bit of a challenge? The BCU Youth Squad talks about bullying.

  • Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time (StopBullying.org).
  • More than one out every five students reported being bullied (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2016).
  • According to Focus on the Family, Many children/teens are reluctant to report what has happened to parents or school officials…”because of a conviction that nothing can be done about it, lack of confidence that teachers or administrators will take effective action and (most importantly) fear of retaliation”.
  • Bullying is NOT a godly characteristic–and MUST be fought spiritually and God’s explicit directions followed.
  • We also must teach our children NOT bully other children as well.

Scripture references

 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust (Matthew 5:44-45).

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: He turneth it whithersoever He will (Proverbs 21:1).

Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.

Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. (Psalm 3:1-4).

So BCU Youth Squad, have you ever been the victim of bullying? How have you dealt with it? I was bullied as a teen and God gave me the victory—my story is here. Or maybe you are/were the bully? Are you ready to give up your bullying ways?  Let’s talk! Please head down to the comments section to share your thoughts with Micah, Mari, Jaz and The Professor–they will be delighted to hear from you!

BCU Youth Squad: The truth about lying.

  • The enemy, our old nature and society encourages us to lie to stay out of trouble.
  • While it’s not always easy to be truthful, lies get us into even more trouble.
  • “Crossed fingers” are not a free pass to lie/practice lying.
  • God is truth, so we want to teach our children to be honest and adults should be, truthful, too.

Scripture references

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:16-19).

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom (Psalm 51:6).

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10).

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13).

So BCU Youth Squad, how do you feel about lying? How does your parents, guardians or family members feel about you lying? How do you feel about being lied to? Now that you know God doesn’t like lies, how will that compel you to be truthful? Please head down to the comments section to share your thoughts  with Jaz and the Professor—–they will be delighted to hear from you!
