Understanding the Signs of Perilous Times

  • We thank the Lord we are back from holiday, enjoying my friends, family and all things summer.
  • As the Lord refreshed my mind and body, I ran into a few instances where the people around me were entitled, sullen, arrogant, loud and disrespectful.
  • In fact, just today, I encountered a person with a poor attitude I was praying for a service at an establishment I frequent.
  • The Lord reminded me this is all part of the perilous times.

BCUFam, I am from a generation that respected the adults we interacted with, especially in a customer service situation. Moreover, the Spirit of God down on the inside will “check me” if a tone or attitude shows up, so in order for me to see Jesus in peace, I have to make sure I am loving on everyone, especially the unlovely. When we stay in lock-step with Jesus, He will remind us to not to get in our feelings and take these behaviors personally, but to pray and witness about the saving power of Jesus! Amen? Amen! Let’s pray!

Father, in the name of Jesus, as always, we want to thank You for the Word we have heard! We thank You for reminding us that when these spirits show up, that you help us not to be infected and affected, but rather, humbled and thankful that You delivered us! Bless us to remember to stay in a posture of prayer, versus reacting in a way that does not glorify You. We also intercede on behalf of those who are infected by these spirits to be delivered, healed, saved and set free in the matchless name of Jesus! We thank You, Jesus, for the victory and for continuing to strengthen and keep us, as we continue to give you all the glory, honor and praise! In Jesus name, we pray and thank You, Amen!

[Happy] Holidays…

  • As of this post, we are in the beginning of December, and the holiday season is in full swing.
  • For many, this is a time to gather and celebrate with one another, especially friends and family.
  • For others, this time of year is difficult as they grieve the loss of their loved ones.
  • Years ago, through a conversation, the Lord taught me a lesson on having compassion and understanding for those who are heavy-hearted right now.

Isaiah 50:4

The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

BCUFam, we are human, and the death of our loved ones HURTS! And it’s natural to miss their physical presence, especially at certain times of the year. Now, it is hard to watch someone grieve––and it is also natural and CORRECT to want to comfort the person. God knows what you should say (if anything), and will lead you accordingly if you ask. Proverbs 25:11 says, “a word spoken fitly is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” When you think of what a stunning vision that is, how awesome would it be to speak that way? Ask God how. And know that sometimes, just a listening ear, a quiet shoulder, or just your silent presence can speak volumes. Amen? Amen! Let’s pray!

Father, in the name of Jesus, as we come before You today, as always, we give Your name praise, glory and honor. We come to You with uplifted hands, and thank You for Your goodness and mercy that You have extended to us up until this present time. Lord, we want to be aware of those around us who may be grieving or feeling the loss of a loved one. Please help us to be sensitive and compassionate in our words and actions, so that the people we interact with may be comforted, encouraged, and that You will be glorified.

For those of us who are feeling the loss of someone, it is my prayer that You will speak to every broken and hurting heart, as Psalms 51:17 reminds us—-You are near to those who are broken-hearted and save those who are of a contrite spirit. Because, Jesus, You are a present help, because You are ever-present, because You understand our grief, we thank You for being a tear-drier, a comforter, and for wrapping Your arms around us today, so we feel Your presence and are strengthened, in the name of Jesus. For those who may not know You in the pardoning of their sins, those who may be choosing harmful methods to dull the pain of grief, we pray that You will speak to their hearts, so they will ask, “what must I do to be saved?”

We thank You for helping us to be good helpers to one another as we represent You, Lord! In Jesus name, we pray, Amen.

Tis the season?

  • As of this post, in the United States, we just celebrated Thanksgiving and the holiday season is officially here.
  • While I realize that not everyone celebrates Christmas, for many, this is also a season of giving to others.
  • Giving should not be seasonal, in fact, it is biblical for us to look after the needs of others.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

BCUFam, if one person looked after the needs of one other person, many issues in this world would be eradicated. Because we live in this world the enemy is prince (for now, anyway—-see John 12:31), the spirit of selfishness, gain and greed are with us. Think about it——-the wars, poverty, inflated prices, hatred, envy—–these maladies adversely effect others and develop from a lustful, prideful, spirit which does NOT come from God (I John 2:16). Since we know this spirit will be with us until Jesus comes back, as people who love Him and live by biblical principals, with His help, let us continue to give and take care of others as God leads us. We may not be able to help everyone, but all of us can assist someone else. Amen? Amen! Let’s pray!

Father, in the name of Jesus, as we come before You, as always, we give Your name praise, glory and honor for who You are, for what You do, and for Your Word you give us day after day, to let us know exactly what we are supposed to do. We thank You for this particular podcast—-reminding us that we are helpers one to another, and that we are lights that are to shine in this dark world, so we may glorify You in Heaven.

Please help us to remember to acknowledge You in all our ways, so you can direct us as to how we can be of assistance to someone else. Bless us to remember that tending to the needs of others is not just monetary, but acts of service, giving of time, talents, gifts, out of our abundance, praying, listening, advising, encouraging, teaching, or even just being present, as Job’s friends were at one point. We want to keep in mind that when we serve others, we serve You and You will reward us accordingly. Therefore, rather than do anything out of strife, vainglory or importunity, we want to do everything to Your glory, so that those who are saved will be encouraged, and those who are not will ask, “what must I do to be saved?” We thank You for every opportunity to be a blessing to someone today and always, in Jesus name we pray, Amen!

Letting go…

Podcast highlights:

  • Once upon a time, I had a God-sent friend who was a wonderful confidant, advisor and encouragement to my heart.
  • And likewise, I was the same for Friend when they needed biblically-based advice and council.
  • One day, Friend needed some extra love and encouragement, and I was delighted to be of assistance.
  • For some odd reason, Friend and I started drifting apart.
  • This anomaly was confusing and was sad, initially, but the Lord walked me through it.

BCUFam, the Lord is teaching me that not all relationships are “evergreen”—some are seasonal and even still, some are for a season.

On that wise, let us ask the Lord His purpose for the people we come into contact with, and how best we can love them as ourselves. If the time for closeness is up, we should be able to maintain the love even from a distance. Love means that if Friend calls after a year has gone by and says, “can we talk?” with the help of the Lord, we should be able to have a conversation without name-calling, blaming, or chairs being overturned in anger. Love means we have forgiven Friend and do not feel any anger or hurt. Love means that although the person may not be on our “fave five” list (that’s a CLASSIC reference), we can still pray for them with a healed heart, because we gave the entire situation to Jesus. We may not be best buddies, but we can still love and serve as Jesus leads us. Amen? Amen! Let’s pray!

Father, in the name of Jesus, as we come before You today, we thank You for how You speak to our hearts and minds, we thank You for helping us to hear Your voice. Thank You for helping is to understand and accept the reasons and seasons for people in our lives.

Lord, there are some that are struggling today with letting go of a certain relationship or situation—–perhaps because of sentimental value, time invested or a deep love. Whatever the reason is, Jesus, if you are instructing us to let go, please help us to do so completely, giving the person, situation, relationship over to you, knowing that You know what’s best.

For the part that hurts Lord, please heal broken hearts as only You can, in the name of Jesus. For the relationships that will be restored, thank You. And for those relationships You know are past season, we thank You. Please bless us to move on in You, knowing You will not withhold any good thing from us, and all of what is happening is working for our good. It’s in Jesus name we thank You, Amen!

Cut-off Culture | Michele L. Perry

  • “Cut-off culture” is a relatively new phrase, but not a new phenomenon.
  • Basically, when someone offends you, cut-off culture says stop dealing with the person immediately and permanently.
  • This mindset is contrary to the Word of God and should be avoided as a way to handle all offenses.
  • A friend of mine, Michele L. Perry, spoke about this attitude in a post about a conversation she had with her late father.

BCUFam, we thank the Lord for Michele and sharing her story so that we can stay away from participating in this cut-off culture that is so prevalent right now. The Lord knew that we would be offended by people, so He gave us the blueprint as to how to handle it—we go to the person and talk to them about it (see Matthew 18:15). By doing things God’s way, we will get perfect [however God works it out] results. Amen? Amen! Let’s pray!

Father, in the name of Jesus, as we come before You today, we thank You for coming by with a Word to encourage us to examine ourselves. We thank You for helping us to see any lack of forgiveness, or patterns of cancelling people, in any relationships that we have, and helping us to choose to walk out Ephesians 4:32, where we are commanded to be kind, forgiving and tender-hearted toward one another.

Bless us to remember that You have forgiven us, so we want to continue forgive others. Thank You for the victory in this area, so we are without spot, wrinkle or blemish, and You are glorified in our lives, in Jesus name, we pray, Amen.
